IN/VAS Engineer at MTN

The successful candidate will be responsible to provide technical assistance for operation, configuration, implementation and maintenance procedures for the Value Added Services (VAS) and Intelligence Network (IN). Participate in the safe integration, introduction & development of peripheral systems or services and establish the technical acceptance for the network. Participate in trainings and meetings with other departments and study the functionality and evolution for IN/VAS. A set of procedures and instructions will be followed with proper logging and reporting for carrying out work under precise & clear instructions by their line supervisor.

  • Supervise preventive maintenance tasks in order to achieve high QoS and to minimize the service outages of IN/VAS NEs.
  • Coordinate and discuss with the IN/VAS Supervisor about the results in order to meet with the needs of the department.
  • Provide second level technical support towards subordinates and develops or initiates actions that ensure the realization of company goals.
  • Responsible for Design, plan, configuration, dimensioning, implementation and integration related to any new requirement, expansions or installation (hardware & software).
  • Log all tasks performed on corresponding log sheets.
  • Requests, authorizes and validates the configuration and implementation of changes concerning the IN/VAS systems.
  • Contacts vendors, exchanging information about software and hardware upgrades.
  • Daily operation and maintenance supervision to identify and troubleshoot problems and realizes important problems/issues, the severity of their consequences. Develops solution taking into consideration the company’s priorities, each individual’s skills, and the urgency of the problem. Refer unusual system/network behavior to the Service Delivery Senior Manager in order to deliver the services required by the company’s standards.
  • Committed to team goals and contributed to team spirit building. Helps colleagues to overcome problems and facilitates the cooperation between team members.
  • Coordinate and participate in meetings with Technical, IT, Finance, Sales, Customer Care and Marketing in order to provide technical assistance of implementation or integration of new services or platforms within the network.
  • Coordinate and participates in meetings with the MTN vendors.
  • Responsible for the generation regular and outstanding reports about all ongoing and planned activities by the team.
  • Provide feedback and coordinates accordingly upon requirement to deliver new products (services/systems or hardware) that are planned to be integrated within the network or to be supported by the section.
  • Provide second level of support towards Customer Care.
  • Responsible for configuration and implementation related to any new requirement or expansions (hardware & software) for the IN/VAS systems.
  • Provide 24/7 on call support towards all networks that involves IN/VAS systems.
  • Complete all IN/VAS tasks and duties in accordance with the appropriate set of procedures and guidelines and identify opportunities for process improvement where possible.
  • Maintain the prepaid data warehouse operations and data integrity. Input data into specialized systems and ensure that all related databases are kept up to date and relevant to the business.
  • Analyze new marketing services and design/implement solutions.
  • Manage systems / applications.
  • BSc in Computer Science or in a related field.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • Strong computer skills with knowledge of SQL, DB, Unix/Linux, Java, PHP, SOAP and web services architecture.
  • Understanding order management, provisioning, billing, rating and service level support, product development.
  • General overview of upon telecommunication network protocols and principles.
  • Capability to generate and analyse measurement reports.
