Backend Engineer at Amsterdam

Backend Engineer
You will be working in the team that is building technology to enable anyone around the globe to live stream football matches. Whether it is a professional production or the proud parent next to the pitch, you’ll be responsible for the technology powering their experience.

Together with the other engineers and product owner, you’ll be working on the end to end experience, from the metadata needed to create content, to the mobile apps that are used for live streaming video.

The team is working closely with the other teams in MyCujoo. The video streams that you enable, will be handed off to the team that’s responsible for our (self built) live streaming platform, while all the metadata is used by the team that creates the experience to fans.

As  the teams are quite independent, this also means that we use different technologies per team. Yes, this means as well that you get the freedom to experiment with new technologies.

We value a balance between strong software craftsmanship and agility and ability to deliver. What makes us unique is the fact that we turned around our ways of working - we started creating teams around features rather than functions. We create independence through an event driven architecture and empower success through cross functional teams.

Requirements:

3+ years commercial Golang/Node.js development experience
Experience with Unit and Integration test
Continuous integration and deployments
Restful APIs
Ownership of logging, monitoring and alerting within feature teams
We rely on different datastores, for example PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis, ElasticSearch
Everything we build is precisely designed for high availability, scalability and resilience on either supported by AWS or Google Cloud technology.
Version control
Bonus Points:
Experience with Kafka/Avro, EventBus or Distributed Architecture
Test Driven Development

So why would you want to join us?

We give you flexibility, responsibility, challenging projects, and we are great colleagues. There is a unique opportunity to turn an industry upside-down and to shape the future of broadcasting - of which you can play a big part.

Our own bar is open every Friday, we organise social events regularly, and we’re very competitive at foosball. We work hard, but we also take care of each other. Balance is part of our lives - no matter if it’s family, travel, workouts, or anything else that makes you happy. Together, we go for the win - conquering the world, creating more value for our communities, step by step.
